Fall is definitely here, not so much the weather (it's been sunny and 60 all week!), but in the pattern of our days. I got a rather frantic email from a dear friend wondering if I was okay, as no one has heard from me in awhile. I had to chuckle, because after 20 years of being friends, she ought to know by now-it's hibernation time for me. Many people dread the onset of winter-for me it is a time of great joy. For the past six months, home has been nothing more than a place to sleep and eat. We head outdoors shortly after sunrise, and don't come back in until dark. Now, the garden is put to rest, the bicycles safely stored in the barn, and our evening walks will soon be coming to an end also. It is time to get reaquainted with "Snuggy House".
Books are getting dusted off, the keyboard is again plugged in and ready for endless repetitions of chords (I'm teaching myself, and oh, the horrible sounds!), the sewing machine is pulled out of the cabinet, and best of all , the soup pot regains it's rightful place on the stove.........in other words, it is ME time. And I LOVE it!
So, aside from a few spotty posts, this is it for this blog. I do have an upcoming trip for Josh's graduation from boot camp, the kids are coming up for Christmas (I'm decorating the house for the first time in YEARS!) and a few other minor things that I'll post for, but other than that, I've got nothing but days of cooking, reading, sewing, snowmobiling and skiing ahead and so I feel it's best to sign off. My other blog will still have a weekly post, and of course you KNOW I will still be reading all of YOUR adventures.
I hope you guys have a great winter. I'll see you in the spring in time for planting!

Wow! You actually make winter sound interesting! Enjoy and keep warm! We're supposed to have a mild one this year, I think!
Say it isn't so!
O Sue, your joys are mine too - sewing, beading, cooking, reading, writing, practicing piano and dreaming of next year. Ahh yes this time of year when the cupboards, freezers and woodsheds are full and we meet winter with excitement and happy expectation, truly the pinnacle of the good life. Peace for all
I know what you mean! Many think I am crazy for missing MN winters, but I remember them as a time to catch up on reading, get closer to family, and just wind down a bit since we were kind of locked in! Looking forward to your spotty posts, lol, and definitely post some pics of the stone cottage decked out for Christmas with the family! You have reminded me, I should really get reacquainted with soups and stews!
Sue,
I'll miss reading your blog :(
The photo above is lovely. I have been loving the weather we've had this week--it's been simply wonderful. I am dreading the long cold winter days ahead, so these days of sun and warmth that we have been experiencing have been great.
Feel free to share some of those soup recipes. I just made potato leek soup for the first time and the family fell in love with it. Thinking soups might be our "thing" this winter.
Have a great winter and be sure to drop a note on your blog every now and then so we know everything is well.
Dreaming of spring,
Deb
Thanks for all the beautiful UP garden pictures!
Kris
Oh Sue! this is just awful. I can't imagine not hearing from you! You are going to put all of us who love you in a state of shock and sadness. But...I guess we will survive. shoot...Guess we can't be selfish, but we will miss your posts. Be sure and give us just a few little words and shots of your house in the snow. and thanksgiving pictures and Christmas pictures, and Valentines pictures...and Abe Lincoln's Birthday pictures...by the way, I love your photo. It's really pretty. I'll miss your posts but glad to hear your going to keep up reading. Will miss ya Sue!...debbie
We'll miss your posts. Be sure to let us know how you're doing and don't be a stranger.
Have a wonderful winter!
Judy
Three big cheers to you for doing what you want to do! (I'm still trying to screw up enough courage to NOT do my gargantuan garden next summer and make it my "summer of reading" and lying in the hammock . . . something for some reason I feel I need and want to do.)
So, again, although I'll miss your posts, I applaud you. Enjoy the wonderful, snow-filled, beautiful winter!
Have a great 'hibernation'!
Have a fantastic winter. I hope you enjoy your holidays and your time away from all the outdoor work.
You certainly make winter sound appealling! Think of me when you play in all that glorious snow ok! Oh I left a reply to your comment on my blog :)
Have a wonderful winter ;)
I can certainly understand the winter hibernation. Although I always feel I am not ready for winter to start, once I get my mind set for it I happily fill my days with lots of activities without the distraction of all the outdoor gardening and other activities that require so much time. We have enjoyed our extended fall, but as we have been driving north into winter I am settling in and am ready to go into winter mode as soon as I am home. Feel free to share your winter activities with us. After all, they are part of "making a house a home." I always enjoy what you have to say!
have a great winter!
Hibernation. Yes I understand the concept. For me curl up in the easy chair with a stack of books and puzzles. Nature loses some of its appeal for a non cold weather person. And yet Minnesota will always be home for me. Maybe I'll blog a few more book and movie reviews this year. Still give a comment when you get a chance Sue!
I got to get on with mine, but I keep finding stuff that is interesting. Have a good time.
Enjoy the holidays and winter weather.
Judy
I too love the comforts of winter. But only from inside the warmth of my home. No longer do I welcome snow If I must be in it nor do my rhynauds welcome the cold. I go through my endless magazines for new ideas, bring out the hot cocoa in hopes of not burning the tip of my tongue and welcome dishes such as chili & cornbread or beef stew. Ahhhh... yes, snuggly and warm.
Hugs to you today.
Tammy
I understand, but it makes me sad..I just recently found this blog of yours.
You mentioned another blog that you have...what is the URL for it so I can follow it?
Never mind...I went on your profile and realized that I am already a follower of your other blog called "Cheapy Cameras are..."
Duhhh...I guess I had no idea you had both blogs and were the same person.
ha
Hi Sue... your winter plans sound wonderful!
I hope to take the boys skiing a few times this winter up to Red Lodge, MT.
I love soups in the winter too!!! I'm even thinking about setting up my sewing machine and making some clothes!
Hugs!!! Toni
Your post almost made me think I might like this time of year...but not quite!
It will rain here in the Pacific Northwest until June...I hate rain!
I do like soup though...and snuggling by the woodstove reading to the kids, so I guess it isn't all bad!
Have a wonderful and refreshing hibernation I can't wait to see what you have planned for the spring! Kim
simply beautifully captured shot...have a nice winter break!
Sue- Hope to hear about your spring adventures when the bear awakes:)
.....I am a hibernator too! I've already packed on a few pounds for winter. Hope we see a few posts from you over the winter!! If not.....sleep well and happy dreams! :-D
Sue -I'll miss reading about your adventures! Have a warm & snuggly winter!

Hi Sue :) Oh gee... I'll miss your posts, but yup, that's what winter is... "hibernating" and is the same feeling I get this time of year too.
I don't post entries as often and it could be weeks before I actually log into BlogSpot, lol! There's so many more *real-life* things to do, and to attend to.
We have winter here in Florida too, but not to the extent that Michigan does !!!! But it always brings a cozy feeling to me and I love your last sentence ! :)
Take care and enjoy the seasons :)
"Time to get reaquainted with Snuggy House" is the way I feel too! I tend to hibernate even here in Florida, haha. Guess it's a 'Michigan thing' and it has stayed with me since 1978!!
Have a wonderful winter !
Have lots of fun, while I hibernate. LOL. Take care.
I hope you are enjoying your break!

Thats nice - snugging in the house. Wish I could do that. Its been raining most of the time and its quite miserable as all is wet & soggy.
Hope your hibernation is going nicely :) Just wanted to let you know I responded to your comment on my blog! Have a hot chocolate for me :D
just come back!!! we miss you!
